Seat. A place of rest; an occupied space. It’s has been the subject of many arguments…fights even! “That’s MY seat!” You wanna cause a serious ripple in someone’s spirit; let them go to the bathroom and come back to find someone sitting in their seat! Oh…it’s about to be a problem!😂 Now what is it about a simple seat that causes such a ruckus? It’s just a temporary space to place your derriere. When I think about it…what is it really? I submit to you that it’s not the seat at all but rather what it represents. Ownership! “That’s MY seat!” It’s an unspoken known that once you “cop-a-squat” in a specific spot, you OWN it for however long you are there. So, I’ve got a question for ya. If a seat represents ownership, who and what is seated on the throne of your heart? Selah. (pause; calmly think about that)
The bible talks about how the heart is utterly deceitful and who can know it. It also says that we should guard our hearts because the issues of life are flowing out of them. Sounds to me like the heart is a pretty transitional space full of twists and turns, ups and downs. The game musical chairs is constantly in play. Anger, love, pride, joy, insecurity, peace, envy, hope, bitterness, Jane and Jody are all fighting for a seat in your heart. Honestly, all have had a turn in the seat but the question is, which ones are ruling? Let me encourage you!
The heart is the organ that pumps the blood through your veins to your entire body. When bad cholesterol builds up in the veins, it blocks the blood from flowing which causes a heart attack. Man! This is like medical school!😂 In our blog anger, pride, envy, etc. are the buildup which cause blockages in the heart. Once these “heart blockers” take a seat, it’s HARD to get them up! They take control and every moment is now lived from these blocked places. The end result is an attack on your heart that can kill you. Kill who you were created to be, kill how you see yourself, kill your potential, kill your connections, kill your relationships. I could go on and on but let me encourage you!! It’s time for surgery! We need a triple bypass!!
Elder Lee Arthur Hunter, the founder of my church, Greater Refuge Cathedral, (whoop, whoop!) was known for saying this, “You must have a change of heart, a change of mind and a change of direction.” A triple bypass!! Psalms 51:10 says “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” I encourage you to let the Holy Spirit work on you now. Let Him guide you through the CHANGES that are necessary to make sure the seat of your heart is properly occupied. Finally, Matthew 22:37-38 NIV says, “Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.” A TRIPLE BYPASS!! This commandment will ensure the throne of your heart is…in the words of the Forrest Gump movie…TAKEN!
What an awesome read. This just blessed me. "Who and What is seated on the Throne of your Heart." Come through and help us Jesus.
This right here! Whew! I wish that every that everyone that ever watched. “Game of Thrones” could read this. What a powerful message of encouragement! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
